More About Liechtenstein

Hi, it's Sara again. Today I'm here to tell you about the people in Liechtenstein.

  • As of 2009, our population was 35,911 and we're growing at 0.745%.
  • 86% of those people, including me, have Alemannic ethnicity. The other 14% include Turkish and Italian ethnicities.
  • Most everyone (except for tourists maybe) speaks German with the Alemannic dialect. We've been told it's difficult to understand for any outsiders. We are the only German-speaking country that doesn't border Germany.
  • Our government is a constitutional monarchy, and we have 11 communes that are ruled. Our capital is Vaduz (which is where I live, work, and go to school!)
  • We are a double landlocked country - one of the two in the world! What that means is that we are landlocked by landlocked countries. The only other one like that is Uzbekistan.

Until next time,
Sara
