Rome, Italy The Art

Hello, I am Catherine. I live in Rome Italy as a exchange student from Greenville, South Carolina. My passion is art. I have the gift of looking at an art piece and understanding it and the meaning behind it. The most famous art in thw world is from the time of the Renaissance. This is why I am now here in Rome. I came to learn about this type of art and how it differs from this our time period. For the next few months I have a few questions, that before I leave, must learn the answer to and today we start on question 1. Essential Question: 1) How does the art differ from the time of the Renassiance from today's art? As we all know the Renassiance lasted from the 14th to the 17th century. During this time the art fluctuated. Art during the Renassiance was understood by mathmatics and architecture. Now art is very abstract and sometimes more of what the person is feeling. Back then the art was desgined based of the mathematics and religion. The art had to to with belief and to make the painting or whatever that it might be is in depth. Such as the bodies on the painting looked solid and whole and 3D. The background had perseptive and depth to it. Alot of art now isn't like this becuase to do this math and architecture were combined into the aspect of art. Such as below we can see the difference. As an onlooker decided what art is from the which time. This is a way to see if I have made my point clear. (To the left) This is the time of the Renaissance. This is a painting by Caravaggio a painting of the crucifixition of Peter. (To the right) This is a modern time paiting. This is a painting byunknown it is called the "joyful star."
